In creating artworks, my intent is to go beyond merely the aesthetic -  my concerns are people:  our common  human condition, and the significant events in our lives, particularly related to ageing, health, and conflict.  I base my imagery on my own experiences in life, and my reactions to the world and it’s events as I see them. The intention is to evoke or arouse emotions and ideas in the viewer related to the condition I am addressing.

Currently I am focussed on collage, working primarily with paper - i.e. material from magazines, books and photographs   This source material generally consists of  mundane and publicly available images, some of which may in themselves be noteworthy. However, the reworking of my chosen elements makes use of metaphor, metonymy and synecdoche to produce new images which restate and address significant elements of our lives, albeit with some ambiguity at times. This process is something of a self-referential paradox - but the results are evocative statements by which I address the common concerns of  our shared human existence.
